Covid Updates effective 11/16

Masks are currently optional for vaccinated participants over the age of two.

Covid Updates effective 8/29

Church Family:

Covid numbers are on the rise again- creating complications for families, schools, businesses- and churches.

In response to these changing conditions- and a desire to keep our church family and our community as safe as possible- our Church Council has updated our Covid response plan.

Effective this Sunday, August 29, we will return to a worship only format on Sunday mornings (no Sunday Bible Study or childcare)

In an effort to maintain our ability to provide an in-person worship experience:

  • participants over the age of two will be required to wear a mask or appropriate face covering

  • temperate checks will continue as people enter the building

  • access to restrooms and water fountains will be limited

  • doors will be kept open to increase air-flow and reduce surface contact

  • hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building

  • the sanctuary will be sanitized before each Sunday service

Covid-19 is a nasty virus and there is no 100% effective method to stop its spread. However, we feel that these measures will help us stay faithful to our responsibilities for our church family and community.

Covid Updates effective 5/30

Church family,

In light of recently updated CDC guidelines, our church council has approved a recommendation that mask-wearing be optional for individuals who are fully vaccinated.

We request that individuals not fully vaccinated continue to wear their masks

as an expression of concern for all of our members.

This will all be done on the honor system – there won't be anyone asking to check your vaccination card! Other Covid precautions that we have been taking will remain in place for the time being.

We are moving towards an August one relaunch of a more complete church schedule including Sunday Bible studies and worship on Sundays.

Thank you,
Pastors Jim & Jeremy,
Church Council,

COVID-19 Response Update 2/3/2021

Church Family:

We are living as God’s people in times of incredible challenge and change.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve with you and appreciate your encouragement and support.

We are grateful that so many have been able to worship with us through our online venue. We are continually working to improve this experience. It has been exciting to watch our “online congregation” grow!

We are also grateful that we are able to provide an in-person worship experience for those who are able to participate. We are encouraged by a number of folks who have begun to worship with us in-person during the pandemic.

In an on-going effort in keeping things as clean and safe as possible:

  • Temperatures will be taken as participants enter the narthex (we plan to start this new procedure on Sunday, February 7) – those with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will be asked to return home and may join us in worship online

  • Each participant (over the age of two) will be asked to wear a mask while in the building

  • Exterior doors are propped open to reduce surface contact and provide fresh air ventilation

  • We will continue to clean the sanctuary each Sunday morning with electrostatic disinfection

  • The Welcome Table will have guest cards, hand sanitizer, offering envelopes, and masks available for anyone who needs them

  • Members are encouraged to give online (, by mail, or place their offerings in the plate at the Welcome Table (we will not receive an offering during the service)

  • Sunday mornings will be worship only- no in-person Bible Study or childcare

    To encourage appropriate social distancing:

    • Limit the use of restrooms to one individual/family group at a time

    • Follow directional arrows

    • Enter only through the doors in the narthex

    • There will not be a “fellowship time” in the service- smiles, winks, and “air hugs” are encouraged while hugs and handshakes are discouraged

    • Coffee and water fountains will remain out of service

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jim

Pastor Jeremy

    and 40-45 in Fellowship Hall

  • plan for families to worship together
(no extended session care for preschoolers)

  • greet one another with "holy nods" (no fellowship time)

We need volunteers for our welcome team, counters, and assisting with sanitizing before and after the service. Please drop us a text or e-mail if you could help.

We will have more details available by the end of the week. We're doing our best to stay informed with guidance from governmental guidelines and best practices of other churches. Give us a call if you any questions.

Covid-19 Update 3/16/2020

Hello TVBC Family,

Here are a few updates on programming for the next few weeks.

  1. Each Sunday we will gather online to worship together on our “online campus” accessible via the link on the homepage of Followed by a 1pm Facebook live by one of the pastors to reflect on the service.

  2. Our “online campus” also hosts a list of Prayer Requests and a way to submit new requests.

  3. On this same page families can find resources to talk about Faith and the Bible at home with their children.

  4. Every day one of the pastors will make a brief devotional and prayer video to be shared on all of our social platforms.

  5. On Wednesdays the Youth will gather on a video call for prayer time and Bible study.

  6. Jeremy will be leading a book study of Drops Like Stars by Rob Bell. Each Friday Jeremy will present a chapter (there are only 4) of the book, and lead a time of reflection. (Time TBD)

We invite you to share any and all of these with those around you who are searching for connection, comfort, support, and meaning at this time. We also hope you will participate in community by responding to these activities online.

Here are some ways you can “be the Church” to those around you…

  • Call the people you normally sit near on Sundays.

  • Send a few extra text messages of encouragement to those who may be feeling more isolated.

  • If you’re going to the store, call a vulnerable church member and see if they need anything.

  • Pray for the TVBC leadership: the Deacons, the Council, the Bible Study Leaders, the Staff, & the Pastors.

  • Make your social media feeds a place of encouragement, faith, hope, and love - rather than anxiety and fear.

  • Be merciful with those you encounter in the long lines.

Thank you,

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Jeremy

Covid-19 Update 3/13/2020

Church Family:

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

-Psalm 91:1-2

These are uncertain days as we deal with the impact of the coronavirus. It is affecting all areas of life in our community, our country, and across the globe. We are called to live by faith, not be hounded by our fears. That said, in an abundance of caution and out of a concern for our church family and community we will:

  • Not meet on Sundays for the next four weeks (March 15, 22 & 29, April 5) and resume worship with the Easter Celebration on April 12

  • not hold weekday activities until April 8

  • Worship online on Sundays (check website, facebook and e-mail updates for more information) and provide on-line Bible study and guided prayer times

  • Pastors will be available for ministry as needs arise

It will important as a church family that we:

  • Be intentional in maintaining community through phone calls, texts, e-mails- this is especially true as we care for our older adults and those living alone

  • Maintain our financial support- we must continue to faithfully support the ministries of our church- we are operating on a very narrow margin and cannot fall behind. Use this link to give on-line ( mail your offerings to the church office.

  • Use this time of national crisis to live-out our faith in Christ through prayerful support for our leaders, compassionate concern for our neighbors, and humble dependence upon the Lord.

We will do our best to keep you up to date as circumstances and our response change.

Jeremy Hall, associate pastor
Julie Whitfield, chair- church council
